What this tool is

BrailleDot.com provides a free, browser-based English to Unified English Braille (UEB) translator, including Grade 1 and Grade 2 output, reverse braille-to-English decoding, voice input, image-based text scanning (OCR), and export options including .brf, .txt, and print.

No account required

The tool is free to use and does not require registration.

Accuracy and appropriate use

Braille translation, particularly Grade 2 contraction, involves context-dependent rules. While the translation engine is built and tested against the published Unified English Braille standard maintained by the Braille Authority of North America (BANA), automated translation cannot fully replace human review for contexts where absolute accuracy is critical, such as legal, medical, or safety-related documents. You are responsible for reviewing translated output before relying on it in any high-stakes context. See our Disclaimer for more detail.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the tool to process or generate unlawful, harassing, or harmful content
  • Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the tool’s normal operation
  • Use automated systems to scrape or overload the service in a way that degrades access for other users

Intellectual property

The tool’s code, design, and written content on this site are owned by BrailleDot.com, except where otherwise noted. You’re welcome to link to this site. Reproducing substantial portions of the site’s written content elsewhere without permission isn’t permitted.

Third-party services

Voice input relies on your browser’s built-in speech recognition service, which is provided by your browser vendor, not by us. Use of that feature is subject to your browser’s own terms, where applicable.

No warranty

This tool is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BrailleDot.com and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of, or inability to use, this tool, including reliance on translated output.

Changes to the service

Features, availability, and these terms may change over time. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
